HayMan Quarterly is back! Just in time for April 2006!!
Sooo... Where have I been for 2 & 1/2 years?
First of all, my apologies for being such a flaky lame-o. Not entirely flaky lame-o, though, -- I have been pretty busy with stuff, but not so busy that I couldn't have done a little something here and there for the site once in a while. Oh well... time marches on.
Let's see.... In the last two years I :
changed jobs several times.
got married.
took foster parenting class.
began caring for my (then 2 year old) nephew.
am in the process of adopting him as a son.
had to get rid of my VW bus.
had a down-in-the-dumps spell.
spent too much time playing video games.
blah, blah, blah, etc., etc.
There's more, you know, but you get the point. I've been busy and lazy all at the same time. So let's see how I do from here on out.
Onward....
We've been Google-ized!
Yes!! Now you can refer everyone you know to this site by name. Just have the person GOOGLE "Hayman Quarterly VolksKamp" and voila! There we are! I stumbled across this the other night and was inspired to do an update. I haven't checked any other search
engines yet, but why bother? Google's the ONE, right?
New direction (content & look) for Hayman Quarterly
If you're new to this site, you probably don't want to waste your time reading this. But those of you who have been here before may notice some changes. I dropped some pages and added some things. Also, I quit using Tripod's online editor because it was way too slow with my dial-up. I downloaded a WYSIWYG editor called
'Nvu'
for free and I like it much better.
People change, websites change.
If you have any suggestions or comments, let me know.
Hmm.....does anybody even look at this site anymore? I'm trying to figure out just exactly what it is I'm doing here, and haven't come to any definitive conclusions. However, I do know that I want to change the format a bit. But how? That is the question, indeed. I've included The Railroad Page for all you train game and model fans. I'm thinking about a page of strange Phenomenon. I got rid of the guestbook and started a forum instead. I might start a blog, since that seems to be the thing to do these days. A Sci-Fi page may be kinda fun. Comments or suggestions? Send me a line.
So... What else is new?
So, what should this issue be about? What should I dedicate it to? I suppose "current events" is as good as any. Especially since I've been out of the loop for a while. So, I 'll dedicate this remainder of space on the front page of Hayman Quarterly to a periodical that not only keeps up on current events, but allows us to laugh at the stupidity of it all. The Onion. Not only is it a strange vegetable (of many layers, as Shrek pointed out), it is a newspaper (or newsletter) published by some of the greatest cynics in the world.
The best way to describe it is to direct you to it so that you can experience it for yourselves. It's very easy to find, in case you can't get an actual hands-on, real newsprint copy of the publication. Just go to www.theonion.com and start reading. I must give a warning, though. If you don't have a sense of humor or you don't appreciate satire, etc., then you may find it offensive (you big party pooper). Personally, I think it's pretty funny.
There. That saves me a lot of trouble trying to come up with a bunch of cute, witty, creative and clever things to say about the news. Just click on their logo above and go to The Onion and read their stuff. Then you can say to yourself,
"Hay, man, that's pretty cool!"
