What is it?

HayMan Games is my attempt to create video games. This is something I've wanted to do since learning BASIC on the Apple IIe in high school. Now that I've found 'Game Maker 7.0', I have a relatively easy way to accomplish this. I don't have any games finished and playable yet, but I'm currently working on a couple, as you'll read about below. These games are designed to fill my personal need for a certain kind of video game that I just can't seem to find on the market.

Also, see update below.

In the works

DOT WARS is a game of unit management. However, unlike the RTS games you're used to, you have no control over the unit movements. You control production of unit types, unit intelligence, arsenal and defence strength, and so on.

I'm about half done with this game -- or so I think. There's a lot of AI to compute and try to figure out. I'm a bit of a novice programmer, so I think I might have bit off more than I could chew for my first project. But it's coming along...

FREIGHTERS is a top-down space shooter (Asteroids-style) with a whole lot more space and much more than just asteroids. You are a self-employed courier transporting loads of whatever to where ever, as long as the price is right. Pick up a crew to help you run your ship, and set forth to make your fortune. Just watch out for space pirates and the occasional back-stabber and keep in touch with who your friends are because your enemies sure will. Multiple star-systems and an open universe make for long playability and gives you more of a sense of control.

I just started this game and have a LOOOOONNNGGGG way to go. So far so good, though. I've got the space flight mechanics worked out and it's progressing pretty smoothly.

UPDATE 3/1/10
I've had many computer problems and have lost some of the data concerning these games. Also, my time has been pushed to other things. Unfortunately, despite several efforts, I've been unable to progress with game making. In fact, I think I've gone backwards. Ugh.
