The Visqueen Cabin

Okay, here's the scoop so far, as I know it...
The Dates have been set!!
June 11th thru June 16th. That would be Tuesday through Sunday -- the 2nd full week of June . We figure that going up a little early will get us further away from any problems with the dry season. BE PREPARED . It may be a little colder than we're used to, so bring an extra blanket. Let's pray for sunshine.
As for the LOCATION ...
We're looking at the other side of the hill to set up camp this year. It's the site with the old "little cabin" skeleton structure. It seems to be 'a road less traveled' which would reduce the chance of any yay-who's wandering in on our camp OR claiming it before we get there. This is still being considered, however. If we come up with an all-new place altogether, we may end up going there, instead.
There's too much snow in 'them thar hills' to do any scoutin' around, but as soon as the roads clear, we'll be lookin'. Probably sometime in late April (hopefully sooner). We'll let you know.
If we do take the "little cabin" skeleton structure, we're wrapping it with visqueen and tarps and making it a solid shelter for (probably) a kitchen. For those of you who have been to previous camps, you'll probably agree that this is a good idea. (As long as we can keep the freeloaders outta the iceboxes and away from our propane!)
We'll have a V isqueen K itchen for V olks K amp!! That's two VK abbreviations this year. I think it's a good omen...
Rest assured... the details are getting worked out. If you have any suggestions, please let us know sooner than later. Hope to see you there!!

The Amazing Six-Shooter SpudGun!!

SPUDGUNS!

Isn't that a beauty? I wish I had one...
Grab a sack o' taters because we're doin' some major "spud flingin'" this year! That's right, the fever hasn't died. It got stronger!

I did some lookin' around and found a few places online all about potato guns. I think the best place is SPUDTECH.com . It's a very complete site telling everything (if not more) about potato launching. It's worth a look for some valuable insights into your next gun-building project and firing excursion.
Another site is GotSpud .com. This is where I got the six-shooter picture from. They have a good site, as well.
Both sites sell potato guns for those less inclined to build your own. I think you can get one for under $20, but it's probably a better idea to build one yourself. There's something about knowing that the thing won't blow up in your hands that makes me lean this way. If I build it, I trust it.
Just click on the logo to go to SpudTech or the picture for GotSpud. They show some very interesting models. They also have some pretty neat features. Actually, neither site is complete, come to think of it. They don't have a picture of James with his camo-spudder! Hmmm.....
Just a couple months left......
